The ratio of estimated female to male earned income in 2007 was 0.62...meaning for every dollar a male was making, a woman was making 62 cents. I strongly believe woman&#039;s ability to reproduce has worked against them when it comes to having a career. I would like to mention here that out of all the countries in the world, there are only 4 that do not have national programs for maternity leave benefits: Papau New Guinea, Swaziland,  Liberia and the United States! The average length of maternity leave in the U.S. is 12 weeks- less than three months! If anyone has ever seen a three month old, you know that a mother&#039;s presence is so incredibly needed at that point. Further, these infants are the future of our world- why aren&#039;t we investing in them? And of course, maternity leave is usually without pay as companies are not held to a payment policy.
